A Mother’s Strength: The Ebell Family’s Story

From the day I was released from the hospital after the unexpected early birth of our daughter to the day we brought her home, the Ronald McDonald House is the reason we made it through still smiling and living as if we were all “normal” at home. 59 nights and we couldn’t have thanked all of the staff there enough for being so supportive and welcoming. My son was gifted many toys/coloring books that made it that much more like home! Arnelle was the absolute friendliest person we met while staying there—from her welcoming heart to her hardworking effort to keeping the life of the party while families go through some of the hardest times of their life. We couldn’t thank RMHC enough and their staff for being a home away from home!

As we celebrate Mother’s Day this month, stories like the Ebell family’s remind us of the incredible strength and resilience of mothers who face the unimaginable with grace and courage. At RMHC New Mexico, we are honored to support these mothers—providing a comforting space, warm meals, and moments of peace during their family’s medical journey. This Mother’s Day, we recognize and uplift every mom who has stayed with us, like the Ebell family, and we thank our community for making it possible for RMHCNM to continue being a true home away from home.

Your support helps keep families close when they need it most. Every gift, every volunteer hour, and every shared story ensures that mothers like Mrs. Ebell can focus on what matters most—being there for their children.
